The IRS received our application for nonprofit status recognition on May 10, 2012 and we have finally received a letter confirming our recognition. It’s been a long wait, but we couldn’t be happier to receive the notice and the timing is perfect.
We still have a garage worth of tools to catalogue, tools to purchase with funds raised in the ioby campaign and most importantly need to locate an appropriate space for the Phoenix Tool Shed. But let’s not let those minor details stop you from signing up to become a member. Due to the circumstances, any membership started before the doors are open will be extended to a year after our first day of business once that is established. Our goal is by the end of the year (a great Christmas present for Father or Son). So if you’re ready to join us in this journey, click on “Become a member” above or follow this link: Create an Account
Maybe it’s because our first baby is due in the end of may, or maybe it’s just because it’s spring (though quickly turning to summer), but I’m pretty sure my tools were busy in their storage boxes and have made tool babies. It’s a great thing, though most of the multiples are pretty common tools, but they’re tools nonetheless.
I finally got around to pulling most of the miscellaneous boxes off the shelf in the garage and tried to get most the tools onto the wall in the garage so I can see where we’re starting with the availability of tools. Now I’ll need to come up with a good way to catalogue and identify each tool and then we’ll be that much closer to opening the garage door and sending them off to fix, build, and make things all over the city.
While it’s certainly not live updating, it is as up to date as when we publish it. The link is is (dead now).
