The 8’x20′ Shed didn’t come with shelves and we wanted to line one side of the shed with shelving. To purchase nearly sixteen linear feet of durable quality shelving units would cost over $400. Instead, we bought materials from Home Depot and built (2) 8′ long by 2′ deep shelves shown above for $120.
- Compound Miter Saw
- Corded Drill
- Corded Jigsaw
- Carpenter’s Triangle
- Tape Measure
- Extension Cord
- Misc Bits (Glasses, Gloves, Pen, printed template, Phillips Head Bit, Pilot Hole Drill Bit, and a Jigsaw blade)
Here’s a link to the guide I based the shelves on. Some of the items we’ll be storing on the shelves will be taller, so we modified it with only 3 shelves per unit instead of 4. http://davewirth.blogspot.com/2013/01/storage-shelf-for-basement.html
I took pictures throughout the process of building the shelves. I’ll post the photos for now and come back to write a more detailed guide when time permits.
