I know it’s short notice, but we’ve just found out about an opportunity to raise some money to help get Phoenix Tool Shed off the drawing board and into the real world. We would love for anyone interested to come out and give us input on how you want your tool library to look, operate, and serve the community. We’re going to meet at Copper Star on 7th Ave. at 9am tomorrow (Thursday, July 18th). If you can’t make it, feel free to comment below with any input you may have.
From 5 weeks to 5 months, The year is almost over and it’s time to get some traction on the tires of the Phoenix Tool Shed. We’re going to start 2013 with lots of steps in the right direction. That includes cataloging our current tool selection, opening up memberships, and spreading the word.
I’m sorry for letting it go 5 weeks since the last update. We’ve been pretty busy getting acquainted with our lovely daughter Amelia and our new roles as parents. We’re still progressing towards opening the tool shed, just working my way through the tax exempt documentation for the IRS. If anyone has experience with this sort of paperwork I’d appreciate any help that would be offered. Also, be sure to request tools you’d like to see available for checkout in the tool shed.
We got our approval notice from the AZ Corporation Commission. One more tick off on the checklist of opening the doors! Next up, hold a board meeting and submit our federal tax exemption documents. If anyone would like to be involved in a community meeting regarding the start up or direction that the Phoenix Tool Shed is heading, let me know. The more the merrier when it comes to seeing and meeting the needs of a community.
We’re still waiting on approval from the Arizona Corporation Commission to make it official, but we’d love to let you know as things get going around here. If you’d like to be kept up to speed, click on the “Mailing List” link above and give us your name and email address so we can help you follow us as we take this journey together.
My checking account shows the check submitted with the articles of incorporation has cleared. Hopefully that means we’ll hear back from them shortly. Until then, there’s lots of planning, organizing, and even a baby to be had before the doors are opened. Stay tuned.
I have completed the articles of incorporation and will be submitting it along with the other required documents and fee to the Arizona Corporation Commission on Friday. Their current document processing times are estimated at 28 days. I’m hoping they’ll see the awesomeness of a Tool Library and push it right through. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
